At Expressions, Junior Classes are for students in Kindergarten and First Grade. These classes provide students the opportunity to learn foundational dance skills before they enter Leveled Academy Classes. Junior students will focus on learning dance fundamentals and vocabulary in class. Some of the unique benefits of these classes include: Skill Building, Memorization, Spacial Awareness, & Self-Confidence.
Junior 1 students will participate in 60-minute Combo Classes, just like the Mini 1 & Mini 2 classes. Combo Classes integrate two different dance styles, allowing students to explore various genres and discover what they most enjoy.
Junior 2 classes bridge the gap between Children's Dance classes and the Expressions Academy Leveled Program. These 45-60 minute, single-style classes focus on developing technique and memorizing choreography. These classes are often paired on the schedule with another class right before or after it. Taking back-to-back Junior 2 classes at this age enhances students' attention span and endurance, and provides more performance opportunities in recitals.

Our intent is to offer truly age-appropriate instruction. Our curriculum is designed to align with the developmental milestones of each age group, ensuring that movements and concepts are introduced at the right time. Our classes incorporate exercises that improve strength, flexibility, and coordination, contributing to overall physical fitness.
Memorization skills are developed in our Junior classes, as students begin to learn sections of choreography, and through repetition inside the classroom they are able to remember it when they perform on stage.
At Expressions, dance is about much more than learning how to move to music! While the steps are important, of course, what’s even more special are the life skills that are introduced in our Junior classes.
Learning how to be a good friend is one of those skills—it’s the character quality of kindness that surfaces in dance class as our students learn how to interact with their peers. Fostering connections between our students inside the classroom through partner work and team building games gives them the chance to develop valuable communication tools at a young age.
Our philosophy centers on keeping kids happy, healthy, and safe in dance. Our intent is to create a joyful learning experience. We achieve this through positive reinforcement, encouraging exploration, and celebrating individual achievements.
Our classes are carefully structured to provide a nurturing and engaging environment where children can thrive. Our curriculum is designed with clear progression points, ensuring that students build a strong foundation in dance while developing their skills and confidence.

Testimonials
We have been so amazed at the family environment at Expressions! Carly loves it there and wants to be there every day of the week! Ms. Brittany has been phenomenal in shaping and molding Carly into a great dancer in Smile Squad. And Ms. Shaylin is an expert in ballet and helping all kids become better at dance.
Rachel C.
I am delighted to share my appreciation for Ms. Alexandria, the
ballet and jazz dance teacher for our 6-year-old students at Expressions... She makes learning ballet and jazz both fun and accessible. Through her creative teaching methods, she breaks down complex steps into playful, manageable pieces, ensuring that each child builds confidence and skill at their own pace.
